SUPPORTING THE SITE
How to Nurture the Understory
I wish there was such a thing as a free lunch, but alas, we live in the real world. It costs real money to host this site, and the time I spend writing and maintaining it isn't free either. That's not to say that I will ever charge for access to this project. Sharing this stuff is too important to me. Charging admission is gatekeeping, and I won't do that. That said, if you're inclined to help out financially, I'd be immensely grateful. There's a Patreon set up where you can pledge a few bucks a month to keep this website up and maybe buy me a new laptop when this one craps out! Whether you can be a patron or not, I'm glad you're here. Thank you!

Become a Patron
As I said above, I don't like gatekeeping. I especially hate it when money is involved. If there's a cool story about a moth I want to share, I want everyone to be able to see it. So I'm not going to paywall anything and I'm not going to threaten to never share anything if enough people don't pony up some support. (I'm not a great salesman, as you can tell.) I'm just asking for some help if you've got some extra money and you'd like to keep this project going. You can pledge three bucks a month, you can send one dollar once, you can send me a nice note. You can do whatever feels good. Whether it's a note or a donation, I sincerely thank you!
